Welcome to Mr. Gingerich's summer blog on activities for your children.
As I mentioned in the original orientation blog about this site, I would be listing some books
that you may want to consider as reading material to keep the active minds working over the
summer.
The following are book titles that you may want to consider on this weeks List:
1. A REWARD FOR JERRY
2. RETURN OF THE DAGGER
3. THE QUEST FOR THUNDER MOUNTAIN
The following are some activities of the more physical nature that you may
wish to consider for some real muscle work outs to begin the summer.
Physical Activity #1 Treasure hunt - find a place where you can hide some
items in places that will take a moderate amount of searching for your
child to find an item (pick things that would be of some interest to your Child).
Make out a treasure map. List on the map directions to find an item. Example
might be take 10 steps north from the apple tree.
Supervise your child as they and maybe others try to find the treasure
by reading and using the map that you have made up. You can use pictures
and arrows and other ways to make the reader aware of what they are
to look for to find the hidden treasure. Have your child and others if possible,
complete the hunt by finding all the items and sharing with the others what
they have found.
The next ideas are for some real basic ideas to get some exercise.
#1 Find a place where you and your child and others, could go to
and hike for a relative
amount of time. Say 10 to 15 minutes to begin.
#2 Jump Rope - get a timer and see how long your child can jump rope,
also you can count how
many times that they make it over the rope without
a major mistake.
#3 Kick Ball - use a kickable ball and make up a game where the children
kick the ball and run to a
base or to some object. Decide if they need
to get to several bases to score a point or just get
to one or two
objects. Make the game up any way you want.
#4 Bean Bag Toss - You can use an official board with a hole in it
or just use a bucket or something else to throw the bean bags into.
The winner of the game could be someone who gets the bag into the hole
a certain amount of times. Use two to four players for the game.
Corn hole is an official type game like this but you can make up your
own rules if you want to.
I hope this given you a couple of ideas for things to do to enjoy some
reading and some fun exercise and activity games for the upcoming weeks.
Please check on this blog in two weeks for the next SUMMER ACTIVITIES TO
KEEP ENERGIZED!
PS. Is there anything else as far as information that you would like to see on this Blog?
Sincerely,
Mr. Gingerich
